5 Simple Exercises to Improve Your Posture

Improving your posture can have significant benefits for your overall health and comfort. Here are five simple exercises to help you achieve better posture:



1. **Shoulder Blade Squeezes:**

   - Stand or sit up straight with your arms relaxed by your sides.

   - Gently squeeze your shoulder blades together as if you're trying to hold a pencil between them.

   - Hold for a few seconds, then release.

   - Repeat this exercise several times to strengthen your upper back.


2. **Chin Tucks:**

   - Sit or stand with your head in a neutral position.

   - Slowly and gently, draw your chin back as if you're making a double chin.

   - Hold for a few seconds, then return to the neutral position.

   - This exercise helps align your head and neck properly.


3. **Chest Opener Stretch:**

   - Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.

   - Clasp your hands behind your back and straighten your arms.

   - Lift your arms slightly and open your chest while squeezing your shoulder blades together.

   - Hold for 20-30 seconds and repeat a few times to counteract slouching.


4. **Wall Angels:**

   - Stand with your back against a wall, feet about 6 inches away.

   - Raise your arms, keeping your elbows and wrists against the wall, and make a "snow angel" motion.

   - Keep your lower back and head against the wall throughout the movement.

   - This exercise improves shoulder and upper back mobility.


5. **Cat-Cow Stretch:**

   - Start on your hands and knees in a tabletop position.

   - Inhale, arch your back, and lift your head (Cow Pose).

   - Exhale, round your back, and tuck your chin (Cat Pose).

   - Repeat this sequence several times to stretch and mobilize your spine.
